What we publish
Love the Philippines News publishes data-driven explainers about Philippine public spending. Stories are built from official records from the Department of Budget and Management (DBM), the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), the Philippine Government Electronic Procurement System (PhilGEPS) and the Commission on Audit (COA), plus published reports from oversight bodies and established news outlets.
Sourcing
- Every figure links to the record it comes from, on this site and, where available, on the official government source.
- Each story shows the date it was published, the date it was last updated, and the date the data was pulled ("data as of").
- Single-record amounts of ₱10 billion or more are checked by a person against the source before we report them.
- AI tools help find patterns and draft text. A person checks every figure and approves every story before it is published.
Anomalies, not accusations
Our automated checks find patterns worth a closer look, such as awards very close to the budget ceiling or near-duplicate project descriptions. A pattern is not proof of wrongdoing. We describe what the records show, not what anyone did or intended, offer innocent explanations where they are plausible, and do not name individuals as wrongdoers. Audit terms are quoted only in quotation marks, with the report named.
Right of reply
Agencies, contractors and officials connected to a record may respond. Email hello@kooya.ph or use the dispute link on any flagged record. We add responses to the story and the record page.
Corrections
We fix mistakes quickly and openly. Corrected stories carry a note saying what changed and when. See the corrections and takedowns policy.
